Project info
The University of Illinois recently constructed a new residence hall named after and dedicated to the first Native American student to earn his degree in the state of Illinois, and possibly in the entire country at the time – Wassaja. An artist was commissioned to design an exterior feature piece that spoke of the journey this young man had to endure. Wassaja was from the Arizona Territory, so designers wanted the stone to be from the desert Southwest. Fossil Creek Stone was the perfect choice, and an entire truckload of oversized outcropping slabs with specific sizes and thicknesses was needed, some as large as 10’x10’, along with Fossil Creek Regular Select Flagstone for the stepper pathway that connects all the feature pieces together. Our commitment to the outstanding customer service we strive to bring our customers is essential to our success.
